Desert Adventures Gives Back!

Desert Adventures recognizes that healthy, thriving communities depend on involved citizens and corporate partners. Therefore, we enthusiastically lend our support to organizations in the Coachella Valley that promote civic pride, education, and contribute to a higher quality of life for all of our valley’s residents.

Though much of our focus is on providing visitors with an enriching desert experience, we feel a special responsibility to the communities in which we live and work. Sustainability and education are at the core of our corporate philosophy and some of our community-based ‘at home’ initiatives include:

  • Ecology and Desert Education – We provide complimentary talks and lectures on a variety of ecologically and locally relevant topics to local organizations in an effort to educate them about their local history and culture and the delicate ecology in their own backyard.
  • Educational Youth Programs – Our social and cultural stewardship is perpetuated further through our Youth Programs which teach young people about how their day-to-day actions affect the environment and the contributions they can make to help preserve and protect our planet. We offer a variety of educational programs at significantly discounted prices at Metate Ranch for school groups.
  • Fundraising for Local Non-Profit Agencies – Times are tough and worthy non-profits are struggling to raise the funds needed to support their efforts. To help out, we regularly donate gift certificates to local organizations to be used as auction or raffle items at their fundraisers and we invite local organizations to consider our Enchanted Desert event venue as the location for your next major fundraiser. We provide discounted all-inclusive pricing to local organizations who select our venue for their fundraising efforts. In addition, we will provide several exclusive and unique donations for your silent or live auction when you utilize our venue for your fundraising event to help with your fundraising efforts.
  • Hospice Caregiver Support Program – Caring for a dying loved one is a stressful and consuming undertaking and caregivers often have little time for rest or relaxation. In partnership with Family Hospice Care in Palm Springs, we offer complimentary Jeep Tours (on a space available basis) for primary caretakers enrolled in the program so they can get out for a few hours and enjoy our beautiful desert paradise.
  • Environmental Protection and Clean-Ups – Desert Adventures serves as the eyes and ears for the Bureau of Land Management, Joshua Tree National Park, and private land owners on whose lands we operate. With all the cutbacks in BLM rangers and National Park staff, they depend on us to report problems, aid in their policing and enforcement efforts, and assist them with clean-ups and restoration projects.  For our 2011 Earth Day Clean-Up, for example, we worked in partnership with the Bureau of Land Management and Coachella Valley Preserve to pick-up trash and debris littering the desert around the Coachella Valley Preserve and to remove invasive mustard plants.  In 2010 we worked in partnership with our local Bureau of Land Management office and the County of Riverside to organize a trash clean-up in Berdoo Canyon. Desert Adventures staff, joined by a handful of local community members as well as some BLM and County of Riverside employees, filled a 40 cubic-foot dumpster with trash and debris plus we removed and recycled over 100 tires that had been dumped in the Canyon.
