Journey through the bones of the earth in one of our classic open-air Jeep CJ-8 Scramblers as you explore the labyrinth of cuts and canyons of the San Andreas Fault Zone.

On this adventure you will learn about the plants, animals, geology, and history of the California desert.  Take a walk through a slot canyon created by the powerful forces of plate tectonics, water, wind, and time and enjoy spectacular views as your guide describes the geologic forces and local history that shaped the Coachella Valley.

You will also learn how and why the Cahuilla Indians lived along the fault zone and how they built and maintained vibrant communities in this arid and inhospitable environment as you explore a natural palm oasis and tour a recreated Cahuilla Indian Village that sits on the former site of the ancient Cahuilla Village site of Paltewet. Your guide will share stories about the culture and lifestyle of the Cahuilla People as you tour a ceremonial long-house, sweat lodge, and kishes (family huts) adorned with interpretive displays.
