ABOUT DESERT ADVENTURES

Desert Adventures was founded in 1988 to fulfill the growing need for exciting things to do in Palm Springs – other than play golf or tennis. Within four months of getting the idea of offering entertaining, educational jeep tours into the desert, Desert Adventures was born with an initial fleet of three used vehicles and a capacity of nine passengers. The tours were a success from the beginning, and by the second year the capacity had grown to 35 tour seats and clients were coming back for more!

Over the years, our jeep fleet has grown to 15 7-passenger Jeep Scramblers (CJ-8’s) and we can accommodate up to 105 people at a time on jeep tours (larger groups can be accommodated using multiple rounds).

Desert Adventures has continued to grow and today, Desert Adventures offers tours and events at our 800 acre private Metate Ranch on the San Andreas Fault as well as other areas around the valley.

For individuals and families, we offer jeep tours to the San Andreas Fault, Palm Springs Indian Canyons, and the Painted Canyon / Mecca Hills Wilderness Area. We also offer sightseeing tours to Joshua Tree National Park (conducted in a climate controlled van or SUV).

For groups, we offer jeep tours and rallies, sightseeing tours, and hiking tours throughout the valley as well as unique team building programs and corporate events, weddings and other special occasion celebrations at our Enchanted Desert and other Metate Ranch event venues.

Desert Adventures BIG RED JEEPS

Renowned for their history, Jeeps have carried soldiers into war and brought them safely back. They have carried missionaries into the deepest jungles in the world and they have carried millions of civilians far down the road less traveled. So what do you get when you combine that rich heritage with the functionality of a present-day SUV? Desert Adventures BIG RED JEEPS!

Desert Adventures operates the largest fleet of Classic Jeep Scramblers (CJ-8s) in California. From an initial fleet consisting of three used vehicles with a capacity of nine passengers, Desert Adventures has grown to operate 15 customized Jeep Scramblers with a seating capacity of 105 guests at a time.

Each Jeep carries seven (7) passengers plus a naturalist guide/driver. All vehicles are equipped with fire extinguishers and first aid kits and are outfitted with safety features such as roll bars and seat belts for each occupant.

The Jeeps can be operated as open-air vehicles (shade top removed) or with the canvas top unfurled to provide sun protection.

Every vehicle starts its day with a thorough 14-point safety inspection and each vehicle receives regular servicing by our certified mechanic.
